Florist Review Magazine Picture Perfect Weddings

We're so very excited to announce that we have multiple appearances in this month's Florist Review Magazine Picture Perfect Weddings feature!  

The first is in the picture-perfect trends, under the canning jars category!

Here we have a photo from Alexis & Wade's lovely June wedding, taken by Christan P Photography!

And then again in the bouquet category, with my bouquet, and my little strand of hair that refused to stay curled that day and still annoys me. haha

And then Alexis & Wade's adorable flower girl makes a cameo in the Flower Children category. Isn't she precious with her daisy halo?

Easter Upcycling Beauty

So if you haven't heard of upcycling before- it's a play off of recycling but instead of breaking something down and re-purposing its parts, you give it new life and take it to the next level. Or at least that's my definition. Each week, we get flowers delivered by our wholesaler in these big cardboard boxes, and they staple in a few skinny pieces of wood inside to stabilize the box, preventing it from crushing its precious cargo. So you can only imagine... pieces per box..a few boxes a week....we have a lot of skinny wood pieces. They make great kindling for bonfires by the way! But sometimes Melinda decides to get creative with them. For Christmas she literally made little outdoor porch mats to scrape your shoes on before you come inside...they're awesome. This time, she decided to use them in a darling little Easter creation! Some mini terra cotta pots, eggs, succulents, moss- put it all together and you get these!! 

 Aren't they fun? Their convenient size and shape make them great for counters, bars, mantles, buffets, or down the middle of a crowded dining table! 

March 24th Weekend

This weekend we had two weddings; one in Pasadena for a former student of Melinda, and then another in Cayucos. Because I wasn't able to be 'on location' for them, I stopped by the shop on my lunch hour to snap a few pics of the flowers- even though they still had some finishing touches to do. But I couldn't resist. I love these two looks because they're not the typical trendy bouquets we're seeing all over the wedding blogs and Pinterest. I love it when brides go against the norm and do what they think is beautiful. It keeps us on our toes- which is always a good thing! 

 I love how the hydrangea has that little touch of white in the center instead of being solid...perfect match for the rest of the bouquet- and I promise we didn't spray paint them! : ) 

 I also like the use of usual foliage to give it a very natural look and feel. 

 Now to contrast the muted green and blue tones above, we have a bright cheery pink wedding with those gorgeous Stargazer lilies that smell so great! 

 To differentiate the bridesmaids from the bride, we used gerbera daisies instead of roses. It keeps the cost down as well, without having to sacrifice the overall "look" of the flowers. Very fun and girly!

We're starting with a design we did for Edna Valley Vineyard's picturesque tasting room.

 This design featured our great (rent-able) wooden boxes with some fun succulents and moss covered manzanita branches. This piece needed to be low-maintenance and long-lasting since it would be in the tasting room for a while. 

 Next we have our favorite bling queens at Serengeti West Jewelry in downtown San Luis Obispo. 

 Melinda had some fun with this one and used some really wild flowers like protea and bird of paradise!

 Last but not least we have our friends at La Cuesta Inn in San Luis Obispo

 I love the color scheme of this one...grey and green together are so calming yet modern. A lovely way to greet the guests checking in at the hotel! 

More Bridal Faire Goodness!

Hi all! So I know these aren't as good as Amy's photos....but I thought I'd include some of my shots of our work for the CCWP Bridal Faire in January! Just a few close ups of the bouquets, boutonnieres, and decor! Enjoy! Hope to see you there next year!
