Faces of Festive Designs

Meet:
 Shannon Carlisle

Shannon, 23, grew up in the Central Valley of California in a small town called Exeter. She was raised in an area rich in agricultural based business; one of the many reasons she chose to attend Cal Poly after graduating Exeter High School in 2005. She majored in Environmental Horticulture Science with a focus on floral design and plant protection. Shannon is planning to graduate at the end of this quarter! She was involved in the Gordon Student Chapter of SAIFD at Cal Poly and served as President, Secretary, and Vice President. After graduation, she plans on attending the AIFD 2010 National Symposium in Boston, completing her AES testing, and hopefully becoming become an accredited member of AIFD. Shannon also plans to earn her PCA (Pest Control Advisor) License after graduation in order to obtain a job as a PCA.

“I have worked for Melinda at Festive Designs since 2005. I enjoy designing flowers for weddings because every day is something new and different. Every customer wants their wedding day to be perfect and unique- and it makes me happy to be able to be a part of their special day.”

Megan & Matthew

Holland Ranch

Megan and Matthew are two wonderful people, whose families have been through some hard times recently. But everyone came together to celebrate their love, their future, and the precious gift of life!
Holland Ranch in San Luis Obispo was the perfect backdrop for their celebration! It is an unbelievable location- run by a very kind family!

Megan's bouquet: a very colorful collection of red gerbers, purple lisianthus, blue delphinium, orange asiatic lilies, purple freesia, and circus roses.

Our favorite features: Megan's Grandmother's necklace as her "something old" and the fabulous circus roses that look like a sunset!

The aisle flowers included simple clusters of orange lilies, scalloped ribbon, and multi-colored petals.

The ceremony flowers included a foliage garland with colorful flower clusters, and 5 white clusters at the top to represent cherished family members who have recently passed on. There were also 3 potted plants on either end of the arch...but honestly, this stage doesn't need much embellishment- the star of the show is truly the amazing view! Don't you agree?!

All of those clusters later did double duty as centerpieces!

Everything at this wedding worked twice: the garland and plants served as stage decor with the aisle lilies...

..... and another piece of garland and plant decorated an empty shelf!

This beautiful 3 tier cake is a creation by Lauren & Two Little Birds Bakery in Paso Robles and once Festive Designs added flowers to it....it was a show-stopper!

We hope this cake was a sweet ending to a magical day!
(and we're pretty sure it was, Lauren told me the top two layers were Kahlua flavored! Yum!)

Jewel Toned Wedding

The bride's bouquet contained red baby roses, burgundy roses, white roses, white gerber daises, purple stock, purple carnations, lavender freesia, pink freesia and red gerber daises. Did I miss anything?
