Wedding Flowers’ Symbolic Meanings

I found this great article this morning on one of my favorite sites: Real Simple. Enjoy! It may come in handy next time you're placing a flower order for a special occasion!

Here, some of the meanings ascribed in North America to popular blooms.

There is a language of flowers―whether you or anyone at your wedding is fluent in this language is another question. One idea: Give each bridesmaid a bouquet featuring a signature flower whose meaning suits her personality. Attach a note to the bouquet explaining why you picked that bloom for her. Here are some of the hidden meanings.

 Amaranthus: Constancy and fidelity
 Amaryllis: Pride, pastoral beauty
Anemone: Abandonment, forsakenness, sincerity, fragility (pictured)

 Chrysanthemum: Happiness and long life
 Chrysanthemum (White): Truth
 Chrysanthemum (Yellow): Secret admirer
 Chrysanthemum (Red): Love
Daffodil (a.k.a. Narcissus): Respect, good fortune, chivalry, unrequited love
 Daisy: Innocence, loyal love, purity

Forget-Me-Not: Faithful love and memory, true love (pictured)
 Iris: Faith and wisdom, inspiration
 Ivy: Fidelity, wedded love, affection
 Lilac: First love
 Lily: Purity and sweetness
Lily of the Valley: Renewed happiness and humility (pictured)

 Orchid: Love and beauty
 Peony: Happiness and prosperity
 Rose (Red): Love and desire
 Rose (White): Purity and innocence
 Sweet Pea: Departure
 Tulip: True love
 Violet: Modesty
Zinnia: Thoughts of friends, thoughts of absent friends(pictured)

Seaside Nuptials for Alison & Paul

Alison & Paul
July 10th, 2010
SeaVenture Resort, Pismo Beach

Alison and Paul said "I do!" with their toes in the sand and loved ones looking on at the picturesque SeaVenture Resort in Pismo Beach. The ceremony was right on the beach, and the party moved upstairs into the hotel's main restaurant where the dining room is ALL windows! Amazing view of the water! Take a look....

The Bride's Bouquet

The Bridesmaid's Bouquet

It was a beautiful day at the beach....with a sky and wispy clouds that perfectly matched the hues of the arbor's fabric! (Good job with that one Mother Nature!)
Alison requested the floral sprays to be placed in this A-symmetrical pattern, and we love it....it really creates interest and keeps your eye moving!
Now, how amazing is the view out of this dining room?!
I can't get enough mercury glass in my life.....love it!
And the satin bow on the cake? Perfection. Excellent job once again Cakery gals!
And of course they had one of the most adorable dessert tables ever! Blue candy is hard to come by, but they nailed it! Doesn't it look delicious!?
We hope you two live happily ever after and we are so thrilled to have been a part of your special day!!
